In a raw and revealing interview, Sarah Mtalii — the co-founder of Bonfire Adventures — has once again peeled back the glamorous curtain that once defined her high-profile marriage to businessman Simon Kabu.
Without mincing her words, Sarah described their once-envied relationship as “vitimbi ya mtandao” — internet theatrics.
“I said it, I decided to now live my true life,” she declared, her voice steady and assertive.
Taking listeners back to one of the most talked-about moments of their public life, Sarah recalled the viral incident of her receiving a luxury Range Rover — a supposed gift from her then-husband.
“Like that Range Rover, it was a collaboration between myself as brand Sarah and the bank,” she explained. “We had to think of a way to unleash [it] to the public as if Simon had given it to me.”
But the reality, she said, was starkly different.
“I saved money for the deposit and the balance was sponsored by the bank,” Sarah disclosed. “Of course, the money that we made, we did it together, and he was also sponsored and bought his own cars. It was just for the public that it was a gift, but it was not a gift. I paid for it for five years.”

She described the entire performance as “vipindi za mitandao,” referring to carefully curated online narratives that were far removed from their real-life situation.
The travel mogul further shared that her decision to walk out of her marriage was deliberate — and quiet.
“I decided to leave my marriage, I decided to leave quietly,” she said.
For a long time, Sarah continued to portray the image of a happy couple, even encouraging others that “marriage works.”
That changed on December 4th.
A leaked CCTV clip surfaced online, exposing domestic tensions behind the polished social media facade. “That’s when I revealed that I had already left that home — it was no longer mine,” she said.
She refrained from confirming or denying the contents of the footage, saying only, “Whether the footage was true or not, we leave it to the courts to decide.”
