Media personality Kamene Goro has opened up about the personal fallout she faced after a viral video linked to her past sparked widespread backlash, revealing that she was chased away from home by her father following the controversy.
Speaking on Alex Mwakideu Live, Kamene also took the opportunity to set the record straight, stating that the long-circulated ‘body count’ claim associated with her name was not true.
“I didn’t move out. I was actually chased from home,” she said. “I stayed in a hotel for some time. Just for about a month.”
The radio and television host has for years been linked to a viral clip in which she appeared to disclose a high number of sexual partners — a moment that generated intense public debate and moral criticism, particularly online.
The clip resurfaced repeatedly over time, often detached from its original context.
“That number was not real,” Kamene said during the interview, explaining that the claim was part of content created for a sexual health awareness campaign at the time.

She noted that while the campaign was intended to spark conversation around stigma and honesty, the message was quickly reduced to a headline that followed her for years.
“Once something goes viral, you lose control of the narrative,” she added, noting that the context was completely stripped away.
While the backlash played out publicly on social media, Kamene revealed that the consequences at home were far more painful.
She shared that the viral attention and criticism deeply affected her relationship with her father, eventually leading to her being forced out of the family home.
The media personality described the moment as abrupt and emotionally devastating, especially given that she was still young and trying to establish herself in the media industry at the time.
She said the experience pushed her into independence before she felt ready.
“It forced me to grow up very fast,” Kamene told Alex Mwakideu.
She explained that she had to find accommodation, manage rent, and take on adult responsibilities almost overnight, without the family support she had previously relied on.
While she did not dwell on the details, Kamene acknowledged that the period was one of the most difficult in her life.
Despite the pain, Kamene said the experience shaped the person she is today. Looking back, she described it as a turning point that taught her discipline, resilience, and self-reliance — qualities that later helped her navigate the demanding media space.
Her decision to clarify the truth now, she said, was intentional.
“I felt it was important to finally say it clearly,” Kamene said, noting that many people, especially younger audiences, still associate her with a claim that was never factual.
She also addressed how her personal life has since changed.
Now married, Kamene said her priorities are different, and she no longer feels the need to explain herself to public opinion.
“The only number that matters to me now is one,” she said, referring to her husband.
