Kenya’s rising footballer Ryan Wesley Ogam has completed a transfer to Wolfsberger AC, a club in Austria’s Bundesliga. The move marks the 20-year-old striker’s first professional contract in Europe.

Ogam was born on December 21, 2004, in Nairobi. He joined Tusker FC in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) and initially played as a defensive midfielder. Coaches later advanced him into attacking roles, where he quickly proved effective.

By the 2024/25 season, Ogam scored 15 goals in 17 league appearances, finishing as Tusker’s leading scorer and one of the FKF-PL’s standout players. His performances earned him call-ups to the Harambee Stars, Kenya’s national team.

At the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, Ogam scored important goals against Morocco and Zambia, helping Kenya reach the quarter-finals.The agreement between Tusker FC and Wolfsberger AC was concluded in late August 2025, following several months of speculation around Ogam’s next move.

In early 2025, Algerian side USM Alger tried to activate his $30,000 release clause.Swedish second-tier club Östersunds FK also made an offer that included a 40% sell-on clause but no upfront fee. Tusker declined both approaches.

Wolfsberger AC offered terms acceptable to Tusker, enabling the transfer to be completed before the September international break. Specific financial figures have not been disclosed.Ogam has now been registered as a Wolfsberger player for the 2025/26 season, according to Austrian football records.

For many Kenyan fans unfamiliar with Austrian football, Wolfsberger AC may sound like a modest destination. Yet the club is no pushover. Based in Carinthia, Wolfsberger has been a consistent performer in the Austrian Bundesliga, often punching above its weight against traditional powerhouses like Red Bull Salzburg and Rapid Wien.

The club has built a reputation as a competitive side in recent years, finishing in the top half of the league and occasionally qualifying for European competitions such as the UEFA Europa League.Their philosophy of nurturing young talent makes Wolfsberger an ideal platform for Ogam’s next phase of growth.

At Wolfsberger, Ogam is expected to strengthen the attacking line.
