Miss Trudy Opens Up on Depression, Social Media Break and Miscarriage Struggles

Kenyan content creator Miss Trudy has publicly explained the reasons behind her extended absence from social media, revealing that depression and repeated pregnancy losses played a central role in her hiatus.

In a YouTube video released on January 11, 2026, she addressed the emotional challenges she and her husband, Ghanaian travel vlogger Wode Maya, faced over the past several years.

Miss Trudy, whose real name is Trudy Juma, said her absence was not due to marital problems or external pressures, but rather a necessary pause to focus on her mental health.

“I have been depressed,” she told her audience. She also dismissed criticism that attributed her disappearance to issues in her marriage.

“My husband has nothing to do with my depression,” she stated, urging critics to retract negative comments directed at him.

In the video, her first since July 2025, Miss Trudy detailed her family planning journey, including a series of miscarriages that she and Wode Maya chose to keep largely private.

According to her, the couple decided not to share the details with their families to avoid causing them additional stress.

“We got to a point because we were having many miscarriages; we could not tell our families. We decided, let’s not stress our families,” she explained.

She further clarified that her father was only aware of two miscarriages, and Wode Maya’s mother knew of about two as well, even though the couple endured more losses behind closed doors.

“My father did not know how many miscarriages I had; he just knew two, and Maya’s mom just knew, like, two because we did not want to stress them out,” Miss Trudy said.

The couple shared in a social media post that they endured six miscarriages before a successful pregnancy in 2025.

“I had been so depressed, lost hope in God, and I have not been okay mentally,” she said, speaking openly about how deeply the miscarriages affected her.

Miss Trudy’s return to social media comes after months of speculation from fans and followers who noticed her prolonged absence.

While some assumed she was simply taking a break, others questioned whether there were issues in her marriage or career.

In her remarks, she directly addressed those rumours, stating that some critics had unfairly suggested her husband was to blame for her silence.

“So please, if you have insulted Maya, thinking that he has done something to me, please just take it back,” she said, defending him and affirming the strength of their partnership.

She also credited Wode Maya with being supportive throughout the difficult journey.

“In fact, he has a lot to do with why I am okay today; he has sacrificed so much,” she said.

Supporters continue to rally around the couple’s growing family, sharing messages of encouragement and hope as they celebrate the couple’s successful pregnancy after years of challenges.
