The goal capped a cautious but calculated opening half, in which both teams focused on structured build-up play and limiting defensive errors.
Ulinzi Stars responded strongly after the restart. Their persistence paid off in the 53rd minute when they levelled the score, shifting momentum and setting up a tense final half-hour.
Both teams increased attacking intensity while maintaining compact defensive lines.
The police head coach responded with tactical substitutions in the 67th minute, introducing Alvin Mang’eni and David Ambulu in place of Brian Chonjo and Eric Zakayo.
Midfielder Y. Koutiama, who had been booked in the 65th minute, remained influential and nearly restored Police’s lead in the 70th minute, but his effort drifted narrowly wide.
