Media personality and football enthusiast Nana Owiti has shared her experience meeting FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
Owiti confirmed that the meeting took place during an exclusive closing dinner organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the sidelines of the AFCON finals.
The high-profile event brought together senior football officials, administrators, and guests as the tournament came to a close.
Owiti attended the dinner following an invitation extended to her in recognition of her work with Destination2Morocco, a role that has seen her engage in football-related content, culture and tourism promotion tied to major sporting events.
She shared that the opportunity placed her in a room with some of the most influential figures in global and African football.

Taking to her social media platforms after the event, Owiti expressed excitement about the experience, describing the night as “unreal” and “unforgettable.”
She noted that the dinner allowed her to interact directly with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, whom she said she had a friendly and light-hearted exchange with.
Owiti revealed that during their interaction, she and Infantino shared a brief conversation, adding that the FIFA president described her as funny and told her she was “the best.”
Beyond the personal excitement, Owiti used the opportunity to represent and market Kenya during the interaction. She made a point of highlighting Kenya when she had the chance.” See you in Kenya forthe AFCON,” she told Infantino.
In addition to meeting Infantino, Owiti also confirmed that she interacted with CAF President Patrice Motsepe during the same event.
According to her account, the brief engagement allowed her to advocate for East Africa — and Kenya in particular — as a potential host for future AFCON tournaments.
She shared that she pitched the region’s suitability and readiness, framing the conversation as an opportunity to keep Kenya visible within continental football discussions.
Owiti’s presence at the AFCON finals comes against the backdrop of increasing involvement by influencers and media personalities in football spaces traditionally occupied by administrators and officials.
