Ex-Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Hit with Two New Rape Charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two further counts of rape, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The new charges come in addition to allegations he has already denied, intensifying ongoing legal proceedings against the Ghanaian international.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the fresh charges following a new investigation into an incident reported in August 2025.

The latest accusations involve a separate complainant and are unrelated to previous charges, authorities said. Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March 2026.

Partey, 32, previously faced five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women.

He denied all the charges during hearings at Southwark Crown Court in September 2025. The trial for these earlier allegations is set to begin on 2 November 2026.

According to Metropolitan Police statements, the two new charges are linked to a non-recent offence from 2020.

Partey remains on bail under strict conditions, including no contact with the alleged victims and restrictions on international travel.

“The CPS has carefully considered the evidence in this case and authorized these new charges,” a spokesperson said. “All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Partey’s professional football career has included top-level experience in England and Spain. He joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid, quickly becoming a key figure in the midfield.

Partey spent five seasons in North London before leaving the club in June 2025 upon the expiration of his contract.

He currently plays for Villarreal in Spain’s La Liga, and continues to feature regularly for the Ghana national team, having earned more than 50 caps.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Partey’s bail conditions have not prevented him from maintaining his professional career.

With the two additional counts, Partey now faces eight counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, involving four separate women.

Police have stated that the investigations into the new allegations were conducted thoroughly before the CPS authorized the charges.

The Ghana Football Association, while acknowledging the allegations, has stated that Partey remains eligible for national team selection, noting that legal proceedings are ongoing.
