NAIROBI, Kenya – Tickets for Harambee Stars’ next two Group A matches at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) have officially sold out, organizers confirmed Tuesday—just days after Kenya’s electrifying tournament debut against DR Congo.

The Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, will once again play host to a full house when Kenya faces Angola on Thursday and Morocco on Sunday.

Both the Sh200 Ordinary and Sh500 Silver ticket categories were snapped up within days, replicating the fan frenzy witnessed during the Stars’ CHAN opener.

The revamped Kasarani Stadium now accommodates 48,000 spectators—down from its original 60,000 capacity—following recent upgrades to meet CAF standards ahead of the tournament.

With fans locked out of the stands, the remaining matches will be broadcast live, and organisers are urging supporters to secure tickets early for the team’s final group match against Zambia on August 17.

Sales for that fixture opened Wednesday via the official CAF ticketing portal.

The ticket rush follows Kenya’s fairytale start to CHAN 2024 on Sunday, where they stunned two-time champions DR Congo with a gritty 1–0 victory, marking the nation’s first-ever win at the tournament.

The result sent shockwaves across the continent and ignited national pride among fans.

Midfielder Austine Odhiambo slotted home a composed first-half finish to seal the historic win, as coach Benni McCarthy’s side soaked in the roar of 60,000 fans in their CHAN debut.

“I’m proud of my team—many were playing on such a big stage for the first time,” McCarthy said after the game. “Beating one of the tournament favourites is massive. Austine’s goal came at the perfect time, just before the break. That really settled us.”

CHAN, held biennially, features national teams made up exclusively of players active in their local leagues, offering a rare platform to showcase homegrown talent on a continental scale.

Kenya, among the four debutant nations in this year’s tournament, is now on the verge of rewriting history again.

A win against Angola on Thursday would make them the first CHAN debutant since Madagascar in 2022 to register back-to-back victories.

Victory would also likely seal their place in the knockout stages—a first for the Harambee Stars at CHAN and a huge step for local football development.
