CS Murkomen Joins Frontline Officers for Christmas in Baringo, Praises Their Sacrifice

Date:

BARINGO, Kenya- As Kenyans across the country gathered with their families to celebrate Christmas, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen spent the festive season with those often away from home- the nation’s security officers.

On Wednesday afternoon, CS Murkomen visited the Todo KDF Camp in Kolowa Sub-County, Baringo County, to share a meal with the officers and express his gratitude for their tireless work in keeping the country safe.

The officers are part of the multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) team, whose efforts have been instrumental in containing banditry and restoring calm in the Kerio Valley region.

“The majority of our security officers are spending this Christmas season away from their loved ones, selflessly ensuring that our country remains safe and secure,” Murkomen said during the visit.

The gathering offered officers a chance to feel appreciated and supported.

Murkomen sat with them, shared words of encouragement, and acknowledged the sacrifices they and their families make daily in service to the nation.

He was joined by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, and other senior government officials, who also thanked the officers for their dedication.

“Today, we come not just to celebrate the festive season, but to honour the bravery, commitment, and resilience of our officers,” Murkomen added.

“Their work is often behind the scenes, but it is vital for the peace and security of every Kenyan. We recognise their sacrifices, and we stand with them and their families.”

He also acknowledged the role of their families, noting that their support enables officers to serve under challenging conditions.

“We salute every officer and their families for the great sacrifices they make in service to our nation,” he observed.
