DCI Boss Tours Diani, Assesses Security as Festive Season Peaks

Date:

KWALE, Kenya — The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, on Tuesday conducted a security assessment in Kwale County as part of preparations to enhance safety during the festive season.

The visit focused on Diani, a key tourism hub that experiences increased activity during the holidays.

Amin began his tour at Diani Police Station before visiting several beaches in the area to assess the security situation, operational readiness, and the deployment of officers on the ground.

Police said the assessment was aimed at ensuring the safety of residents, local businesses, and the large number of domestic and international visitors expected in the Coast region during the festive period.

Amin was accompanied by Coast Regional Police Commander Ali Nuno, Regional Criminal Investigations Officer Daniel Kandie, and other senior officers.

During the visit, he held brief engagements with officers and reviewed policing operations in high-traffic areas.

The DCI Director also interacted with members of the public, listening to their security concerns and urging continued cooperation between communities and the police, which he said is critical in preventing crime, particularly during periods of heightened movement and social activity.

As part of the tour, Amin inspected police holding cells at Diani Police Station and spoke with suspects being held in connection with various criminal cases.

Police said the inspection was meant to assess custodial conditions and reinforce adherence to the rule of law and respect for human rights.

The Coast region remains one of Kenya’s busiest areas during the festive season, with authorities maintaining heightened security to prevent crime and ensure smooth celebrations.

Police said similar security assessments are being conducted in other parts of the country as part of wider efforts to maintain public safety during the holidays.
