DCI Seeks Public Help to Arrest Cybercrime Suspect, Offers Reward

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a public alert seeking information to help arrest a man suspected of committing multiple cybercrime offences within Kenya.

In a wanted notice circulated on Wednesday, the DCI said the suspect is linked to “various cyber crimes” and appealed to members of the public with credible information to assist investigators in locating and arresting him.

“A significant reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest,” the DCI said.

The agency released the suspect’s photograph as part of the appeal and urged the public to share any information on his whereabouts through confidential channels.

Information can be reported via the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline on 0800 722 203 (toll-free), WhatsApp 0709 570 000, police hotlines 999, 911 or 112, or at any police station nationwide.

The DCI did not disclose details of the specific cyber offences under investigation, citing the need to protect the integrity of ongoing inquiries.

Under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, cyber offences attract stiff penalties, including fines and imprisonment, depending on the nature and scale of the crime.

The DCI urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement, noting that public intelligence has played a critical role in previous cybercrime arrests.
