DUBAI, United Arab Emirates —Four airport staff were injured and part of Dubai International Airport was damaged after an incident at the airport, officials said, amid heightened regional tensions following ongoing strikes and military actions in the Middle East.
According to the Dubai Media Office, emergency teams were quickly deployed to the scene after the incident, which caused minor damage to a concourse at the airport.
Authorities said the situation was swiftly brought under control and that the injured staff received urgent medical attention.
The media office did not provide details on what specifically triggered the incident, only stating that it was “quickly contained” and handled in coordination with relevant agencies.
The event occurred as regional tensions escalate, with Iran continuing missile and drone strikes across the Gulf in response to recent military actions involving the United States and Israel.
The incident led to disruptions at the busy airport hub, with authorities temporarily halting certain operations and advising passengers to contact their airlines for updates.
Dubai’s General Civil Aviation Authority also announced temporary restrictions on flight permits for gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, and amateur aircraft for safety reasons following the disruption.
Officials have promised to release more information as investigations continue and as the situation in the region evolves.
