Jubilee Appoints Dann Mwangi as Executive Director Ahead of 2027 Polls

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Jubilee Party has appointed lawyer and public policy expert Dann Mwangi as its new Executive Director, marking a significant leadership reorganisation as the party positions itself for the August 2027 General Election.

Mwangi will head Jubilee’s National Secretariat, overseeing administrative operations and institutional coordination as the party undertakes what it describes as a comprehensive revitalisation of its structures at both national and grassroots levels.

The appointment was approved during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by party leader and former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.

Mwangi previously served as a Political and Legal Adviser in the Executive Office of the President during Kenyatta’s administration.

He has also held senior positions in the public sector, including serving as a director in several State corporations.

Notably, Mwangi was the Chief Executive Officer of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), placing him at the centre of one of Kenya’s most consequential recent constitutional and governance reform processes.

His political grounding traces back to the University of Nairobi, where he was active in student leadership through the Students’ Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU).

He has also expressed interest in contesting the Molo parliamentary seat.

As part of the reorganisation, Jeremiah Kioni has been appointed Deputy Party Leader, marking a shift from his previous role as Secretary General.

The Secretary General position has been taken over by Moitalel Ole Kenta, a former Narok North MP who served two consecutive terms between 2013 and 2022. Jubilee described Ole Kenta as a seasoned politician committed to social justice, equity and inclusive development.

Former West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi has been appointed National Chairperson.

The party said Kemosi brings legal expertise, parliamentary experience and strong grassroots engagement, which will be central to strengthening Jubilee’s institutional structures.

Businessman Yassin Noor was named Organising Secretary, having previously served as Deputy Secretary General.

Jubilee said Noor’s experience in public administration and governance will support efforts to rebuild the party organisation nationwide.

Former MP and Senator Kembi Gitura has been appointed Director of Elections.

The party cited his experience across the National Assembly, Senate and various national leadership roles as key to managing future electoral processes.

The NEC also appointed Zack Kinuthia as Deputy Secretary General. Jubilee described Kinuthia, a former Education Chief Administrative Secretary, as a youthful leader with experience in student politics, party organisation and public service.

At the county level, Nairobi MCA and Deputy Speaker Paul Kados was appointed National Chairperson of the MCAs’ Caucus, with the party pointing to his nearly two decades of experience at City Hall and strong grassroots networks.

In explaining the changes, Jubilee said there is a “widely held view” that the country is facing serious challenges, citing declining conditions in key sectors such as education and health.

The party said the reorganisation is aimed at restoring its operational strength, sharpening its policy focus and preparing it to compete effectively in the 2027 General Election.
