NAIROBI, Kenya – Democratic Alliance of Kenya (DAP-K) Party leader Eugene Wamalwa has taken his war on Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s doorstep, accusing him of what he described as focus.
Eugene, a former Defence Cabinet Secretary, accused Mudavadi of allowing his Amani National Congress (ANC) party to merge with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
“I congratulate @DAP_Kenya and my brother @EugeneLWamalwa on this milestone, unveiling your national headquarters today. We are here today for #MwanzoMpya. We will not leave anyone out of the forthcoming Coalition. When Zakayo is forcing other parties to wind up and be swallowed by @UDAKenya, we will do the opposite. There is no room for division. We must do things differently and be very strategic,” Musyoka posted on his X official account.
Today, I joined the Party Leaders Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper Democratic Movement) and Eugene Wamalwa of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya at the grand unveiling of the new DAP-K Party headquarters here in Nairobi. I gave my commitment that we stand united under one common goal…
This came as Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-) leader Eugene played host to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua at his new party offices located at Chui House.
Notable politicians who welcomed the former second in command at Nairobi’s DAP-K offices included Kalonzo, Senators Richard Onyonka (Kisii), Karungo wa Thang’wa (Kiambu), and John Methu (Nyandarua), and Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga.
Others present at the newly opened DAP-K party office in Karen, Nairobi, were Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, and former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, among others.
“Your Excellency, @rigathi, welcome to Chui House headquarters. All about building alliances to reclaim the lost glory of Kenyans. #MwamkoMpya,” DAP-K Party posted on their official X account shortly after Gachagua’s triumphant arrival at the party headquarters.
How Rigathi Gachagua is faring on after being impeached
After being impeached in late 2024, Gachagua now appears to have found a fresh political lease after a section of opposition leaders rallied behind him following his ouster.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Gachagua was in Kakamega County Wamalwa during the finals of the Malala Cup, an annual football tournament organised by Malalah, the former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary-general Cleophas Malala, who was ousted from this position in August 2024 following the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) decisions.
The DAP-K leadership declared that Gachagua would be a part of their new alliance, which Wamalwa would lead after he was impeached.
According to Wamunyinyi, who doubles as the DAP-K deputy party leader, plans to incorporate political heavyweights and former Azimio members who have left or threatened to leave the coalition in the wake of Raila Odinga’s recent affiliation with the Kenya Kwanza Government are in the works.
“Even the leader speaking the truth in UDA, you know him, the truth-teller Gachagua. He is also starting a political party and will join our coalition,” said Wamunyinyi.
Already, Kalonzo, Jeremiah Kioni (Jubilee), and former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu have announced that Gachagua has joined them.

Gachagua’s visit to Chui House comes hours after he met NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua over the weekend in what is being seen as a new political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election.
This comes at a time when President William Ruto is facing a fresh headache following the announcement of the formation of a new political party affiliated with a former close confidant of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
News of Musalia Mudavadi’s new political party
The news of the new party, the Umoja Summit Party (USP), came to the public limelight recently despite Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) merging with President Ruto’s ANC.
USP is reportedly led by Godfrey Kanoti, a former ANC party founder member.

Other notable figures likely to be included in the new political outfit include professional strategic and political communications consultant Balack Muluka, former presidential candidate Nyambane (Walter Mong’are), and Caleb Burudi, who played a significant role in the formation and mobilisation of the Democratic Alliance of Kenya Party (DAP-K) in the Western Kenya region ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Questions have been asked whether the new political outfit could be Mudavadi’s fallback position party after merging his ANC with UDA.
