MIGORI, Kenya – A 28-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was found dead in her home in Nyahera Village, Suna East Sub-County, Migori County, in a suspected murder case. The incident occurred in the early hours of Christmas Day.

According to a police report seen by Y News, the officer, identified as 2/Lt Synthia Awour Mboya from Gilgil Barracks, was on pass leave at the time of her death.

Officers from Migori Police Station and the Suna East Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office (SCCIO) rushed to the scene around 3:50 a.m. after the incident was reported by Calvis Odeka, an assistant chief in the area.

Upon arrival, investigators found Awour lying in a pool of blood in her matrimonial bedroom. The preliminary police report indicated she had sustained deep cuts and signs of strangulation.

Two of her mobile phones – a Samsung and a Tecno Camon 12 Pro – were reportedly missing.

Her husband, George Ochieng Odeka, 33, told police he returned home from Migori town around 1:00 a.m. and discovered the doors to the house wide open. He then found his wife lying dead inside the house.

The motive for the killing remains unknown, and police have launched a full investigation into the case. Scene of Crime personnel processed the home before the body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits autopsy.
