NAIROBI, Kenya- Renowned journalist Ken Mijungu has parted ways with TV47, barely three weeks after joining the Cape Media-owned station, in what sources reveal was a fallout over the naming of his shows.
Mijungu, who previously worked at KTN under the Standard Media Group, was set to host two prime-time shows—one on Wednesday and another on Sunday.
However, things took a dramatic turn when disagreements arose over the branding of these shows.
According to insiders at TV47, Mijungu had successfully lobbied to rename the Wednesday segment from Daily Report to Upfront, a proposal that was approved.
However, trouble brewed when he insisted on calling his Sunday show Inside Sources—a name strikingly similar to a popular program at his former employer, KTN.
This raised concerns among TV47 executives, who reportedly felt that such a move could create legal or ethical complications.
The pushback from the management didn’t sit well with Mijungu, and as negotiations stalled, the journalist and the station opted to part ways before he could even debut on air.
Mijungu was set to make his TV47 debut this Sunday, but instead, his contract was abruptly terminated before the cameras could roll.
Sources hint that Mijungu may already be exploring other options, given his extensive experience and strong following in Kenya’s media landscape.
