NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Airways has cancelled two transatlantic flights between Nairobi and New York after severe winter weather disrupted air travel across parts of the United States.
In a customer advisory issued on Friday, the national carrier said flight KQ 002 from Nairobi (NBO) to New York (JFK) scheduled for January 24, 2026, and the return service KQ 003 from New York to Nairobi set for January 25, 2026, were called off due to adverse weather conditions, including snowstorms.
Kenya Airways said the decision was taken as a safety precaution, stressing that the wellbeing of passengers and crew remains its top priority.
The airline further warned that the disruption could extend to upcoming services, noting that KQ 002 on Sunday, January 25, and KQ 003 on Monday, January 26, may also be affected depending on how the weather situation evolves.
“Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to provide timely updates as conditions develop,” the airline said.
