Kirinyaga Businesswoman’s Home Raided, Sh 35M Lexus Stripped

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- A gang of more than 20 suspects carried out a brazen midnight raid at the home of businesswoman Rose Muriuki in Kiamuthambi village, Kirinyaga Central, leaving residents shocked and police investigating the daring crime.

According to family members and local witnesses, the suspects arrived in two vehicles shortly after midnight and overpowered the night watchman, identified as Anthony Namanda, tying him up before gaining access to the well‑fenced compound.

Once inside, the gang reportedly sprayed an unknown substance into the bedroom where Muriuki and a female friend were asleep, rendering them unconscious.

They later regained consciousness in the hospital around 9 a.m., unaware of what had happened until informed by relatives.

Between midnight and about 4 a.m., the suspects methodically dismantled Muriuki’s luxury Toyota Lexus LX600, valued at an estimated Sh 35 million, removing valuable spare parts before fleeing undetected.

Family and neighbours described the gang as well‑organised and familiar with high‑end vehicles, suggesting the operation was carried out by individuals with specific knowledge of such cars.

Detectives have since visited the scene and launched investigations as authorities work to identify and apprehend those responsible.

According to family members, including John Muriuki Kiama and Anne Mwaniki, more than 20 armed suspects arrived at the well-fenced homestead in two vehicles in the dead of night.

“This is the first time I’ve seen a vehicle stripped of its spare parts. I’ve owned vehicles for over 40 years, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Kiama.

Residents suspect the thieves were not locals but experts from Nairobi familiar with high-end vehicles.

“Who knows about these vehicles in Kirinyaga? These people are experts. They stripped every part,” said Mwaniki.
