NAIROBI, Kenya-Police are investigating a series of deaths across several counties, ranging from suspected natural causes to alleged assaults, murders, and mob lynching incidents.

In Kisii County, Sergeant Good Mufoya, who was in charge of the Kiango Patrol Base, collapsed and died on December 23, 2025.

Witnesses said the incident occurred after he walked out of his house to respond to a mobile phone call and collapsed outside.

Colleagues described Sergeant Mufoya as a hardworking officer. The cause of death was not immediately established. The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

Elsewhere in Embaringo, Kieni, Nyeri County, a 78-year-old man, James Mubia, was found dead in his bed following an alleged assault by a person known to him during an earlier altercation.

Mubia did not seek medical attention after the incident and was later discovered dead. His body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

In Homa Bay County, a man’s body was found in a maize plantation in Pap Ndege, following a suspected murder.

Police said the man had been stabbed in the head and the body dumped near the Kabunde airstrip fence. The deceased was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification.

In Kiugoine, Nakuru County, another man was lynched in what police described as an alleged failed robbery incident. His body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The bodies were taken to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Police have launched investigations into the incident and reiterated that mob lynching is a criminal act, often leaving cases unsolved. Authorities warned that some victims may also be framed and killed for ulterior motives.
