KUCCPS Reopens Applications for KMTC Courses as March Intake Nears

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its online application portal for students seeking placement at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

This comes after the agency initially closed applications on February 14, following an earlier call for submissions in January.

The reopened application window, which runs until March 4, 2025, aims to fill remaining slots in 21 KMTC courses ahead of the March intake.

KUCCPS has invited applicants who were previously unsuccessful, as well as new candidates interested in joining the medical training institution.

“All applicants who were not successful in the last application and others who would like to join KMTC in March 2025 are invited to apply,” read the agency’s notice. Applications can be made via the KUCCPS student portal: https://students.kuccps.net.

This year, KUCCPS has introduced a phased application process, allowing students to apply for different categories of institutions at different times.

KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome said this approach ensures that institutions with earlier intakes, such as KMTC and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, complete their admissions ahead of universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), which typically enroll students later in the year.

“The placement service has for the first time adopted a phased application process, starting with the Kenya Medical Training College and TVET colleges, to allow students enrolling for the March intake to apply on time,” Wahome stated.

She also noted that past Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who sat their exams between 2000 and 2024 are eligible to apply for KMTC and TVET courses.

Additionally, students preparing to retake their KCSE exams in July 2025 will have an opportunity to apply for placement in the September intake if they improve their grades.

KUCCPS has encouraged students to consider KMTC and TVET institutions near their homes to reduce accommodation and living costs.

Meanwhile, those seeking university or TTC placements have been advised to remain patient, as application dates for those programs will be announced later.
