PARIS, France — French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that the outbreak of war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran carries “grave consequences for international peace and security,” as tensions in the Middle East intensify.
In a statement issued Saturday, Macron said France was taking all necessary steps to secure its national territory, protect its citizens, and safeguard its interests in the Middle East.
“At this decisive moment, every measure is being taken to ensure the security of our national territory, our citizens, and our interests in the Middle East,” Macron said.
He added that France stands ready to deploy resources to protect its closest partners if requested, signalling Paris’s preparedness to respond to potential regional spillovers.
Call for Immediate De-escalation
Macron described the ongoing escalation as dangerous and urged an immediate halt to hostilities.
“The ongoing escalation is dangerous for all. It must stop,” he said.
The French leader stressed that Iran must engage in negotiations in good faith to end its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, as well as what he termed destabilising regional activities.
“The Iranian regime must understand that it now has no other option but to engage in good faith in negotiations to end its nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as its regional destabilization activities. This is absolutely necessary for the security of all in the Middle East,” Macron stated.
France has historically supported diplomatic efforts aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, including multilateral frameworks anchored in international law and United Nations mechanisms.

Iranian People and Governance
Macron also addressed the situation within Iran, stating that the Iranian people must be allowed to freely determine their future.
“The Iranian people must also be able to freely build their future. The massacres committed by the Islamic regime disqualify it and demand that the voice be returned to the people. The sooner, the better,” he said.
His remarks signal a firm stance against Tehran’s leadership while drawing attention to human rights concerns.
Push for UN Action
France has formally called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council to address the escalating crisis.
“Faithful to its principles and aware of its international responsibilities, France is calling for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council. I am in close contact with our European partners and friends in the Middle East,” Macron said.
The call places France among leading global actors advocating for multilateral engagement as the conflict threatens to disrupt energy markets, regional stability, and global security frameworks.
