CSs Mbadi, Chirchir Relaunch Stalled Mbita-Sindo-Sori Road Two Years After President Ruto

Date:

SINDIO, Kenya — Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has raised concerns over delays in the construction of the Mbita-Sindo-Sori Road, following a visit by Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi and Davis Chirchir, who arrived in Sindo via separate helicopters on Wednesday to relaunch the project.

Speaking to the media, MP Omondi said the contractor left the site with equipment immediately after the CSs’ departure, halting progress on the road.

He noted that the President, William Ruto, had previously launched construction of the Magunga section of the same road two years ago, in his presence.

Omondi criticized the lack of designs for the Sindo section, which he said had not been handed over to the contractor, and appealed to the CSs to settle the three unpaid certificates to ensure uninterrupted work.

“I appeal to the two CSs to focus and settle the payments to the contractor so that works may continue without interruption,” he said.

The MP also recalled a similar previous event in which CS Mbadi and another CS landed in Sindo via helicopters to launch two transformers.

He suggested that for upcoming projects—including the Sindo KMTC campus, Gingo Affordable Housing, and Nyandiwa Fish Landing Beach—officials should arrive by road to better appreciate the state of local infrastructure.

Omondi further called for a comprehensive audit of development projects in Nyanza to determine the actual amounts of funds disbursed, saying it was time to ensure accountability in ongoing projects.
