NAIROBI, Kenya- Police officers in Molo have arrested a key suspect linked to a robbery with violence incident in which two men disguised in police jungle jackets raided a petrol station and terrorised staff during a night operation.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the arrest followed a distress call reporting an ongoing robbery at Total Petrol Station.
Investigations indicate that the suspects, who were armed with crude weapons, stormed the station, attacked the pump attendant and the night watchman, tied them up using ropes, and proceeded to ransack the premises.
“The suspects made away with cash, mobile phones and other personal valuables before fleeing the scene under the cover of darkness,” the DCI said.
Swift Police Response
Police officers responded immediately and launched a manhunt for the fleeing duo, leading to the arrest of the first suspect identified as Joseph Daudi Bulinga, aged 55.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of several items believed to have been used during the robbery, including a claw bar, a police jungle jacket, and a tear gas canister.
The DCI said the recovered exhibits have been secured as investigations continue.
Bulinga is currently being held in police custody as officers process him ahead of arraignment in court.
