PCS Mudavadi Welcomes New Envoys, Calls for Deeper Global Engagement

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya- Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has welcomed newly accredited diplomats to Kenya with a call to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Speaking during the Quarterly Diplomatic Briefing in Nairobi, Mudavadi extended a warm “Karibuni Kenya” to envoys who presented their credentials earlier this month, urging them to experience Kenya’s diverse culture, heritage sites, and tourism offerings beyond the capital.

“We are committed to ensuring your tour of duty in Nairobi is not only successful but also truly memorable,” Mudavadi affirmed, adding that Kenya remains dedicated to fostering mutual understanding with its diplomatic partners.

Strengthening Partnerships and Policy Direction

The briefing, part of Kenya’s regular diplomatic engagement framework, provided an opportunity for the government to outline its foreign policy priorities.

Mudavadi highlighted the recently gazetted Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2025 on Kenya’s Foreign Policy, which positions the country as a stable regional anchor, a premier investment destination, and a reliable partner in peace and global governance.

He emphasized that Kenya’s diplomacy in the 2025/2026 fiscal year will be anchored on high-level visits, expanded international cooperation, and implementation of mutually beneficial agreements.

The PCS also paid tribute to outgoing envoys for their contribution to strengthening bilateral ties, while urging newly arrived diplomats to help drive Kenya’s agenda of peace, trade, and development.

Kenya’s Global Engagements

Mudavadi outlined Kenya’s active participation in state visits and international forums, including recent engagements with the United Kingdom, Spain, China, and Japan, as well as regional initiatives with Uganda and Iran.

He further pointed to Kenya’s role in peace and security, citing its involvement in Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Haiti Multinational Security Support Mission.

He also reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to multilateralism, noting the country’s preparations for major upcoming global events such as the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in Nairobi and the Africa-France Summit scheduled for 2026.

“Kenya remains firmly committed to international law, the rule of law, and collective action in addressing global challenges,” Mudavadi said, stressing the importance of revitalizing multilateralism in an era of rising complexities.

In his concluding remarks, the Prime Cabinet Secretary reiterated Kenya’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with all partner states in pursuit of shared prosperity.

“Guided by our national priorities, we shall continue to forge partnerships that advance peace, security, sustainable development, and mutual benefit for present and future generations,” Mudavadi noted.

The diplomatic briefing reaffirmed Kenya’s position as a hub for international dialogue, while underlining the government’s pledge to deepen collaboration with both regional and global partners.
