Prophet David Owuor’s Ministry Invites Government Probe After Miraculous Healing Claims

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 6 — The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, led by Prophet Dr. David Owuor, has officially responded to the Ministry of Health and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) warning on unverified healing claims, inviting authorities to examine documented cases from its recent Nakuru revival crusade.

The public clarification comes after the Ministry of Health ordered a nationwide probe into medical practitioners who testified that serious conditions such as HIV/AIDS and other life‑threatening illnesses were miraculously healed at the crusade.

Church Offers Full Medical Documentation

In a detailed statement, the church acknowledged the importance of evidence‑based medicine and said it respects the regulator’s concerns, but stressed that its faith practices do not encourage patients to stop or abandon medical treatment.

“This isn’t about feelings or faith alone. It’s about what medical science can observe and document,” the statement said, adding that attendees at the crusade were advised to continue their prescribed medical care while participating in spiritual activities.

The ministry said it has extensive medical documentation on dozens of cases from the Nakuru event that its leaders believe represent genuine health improvements.

Only after independent medical confirmation does the church consider a case verified, the statement added.

The statement also noted that all individuals whose stories are shared have given full consent for their names and medical records to be used, and are willing to speak directly with investigators or journalists.

Government and Health Regulators Respond

The controversy began after some medical practitioners present at the crusade publicly supported healing claims, prompting a warning from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

The regulator condemned the statements, saying they lacked independent scientific verification and risked misleading the public.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale directed the KMPDC to investigate all medics who backed the miraculous healing claims, insisting that any medical endorsement of healing must be supported by verifiable scientific evidence.

One of the doctors involved, Dr John Mureithi, emphasized on social media that he stands for evidence‑based medicine and patient welfare, and will support the truth without malice, prejudice, or ill will, a comment that reflects wider debate within Kenya’s healthcare community on how to balance faith narratives and scientific standards.

“As a medical doctor committed to ethics, evidence-based medicine, and patient welfare, I seek the good of all patients and will always stand with the truth—without ill will, without prejudice, and without malice aforethought.”

Public Health Concerns and Wider Debate

The KMPDC and Ministry of Health have repeatedly warned that reliance on unverified healing claims, particularly for serious conditions like HIV/AIDS, cancer, and chronic illnesses, could lead patients to abandon proven medical treatments, risking serious harm or worse outcomes.

While faith and spirituality are deeply rooted in Kenyan society, health regulators maintain that medical decisions should be grounded in science, rigorous testing, and regulatory approval.

What Happens Next?

The government’s probe is ongoing, with KMPDC working with the Ministry of Health and other authorities to determine whether any doctors violated professional ethics or endangered public safety by publicly endorsing unverified healing claims.

The outcome of the investigation, backed by the church’s call for transparency, is expected to be made public, giving Kenyans a fuller picture of what occurred at the Nakuru crusade and whether any of the documented cases withstand scientific scrutiny.
