NAIROBI, Kenya — President William Ruto on Tuesday chaired a Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi, just hours after returning from Addis Ababa, where he represented Kenya at the second United Nations Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4).
During the meeting, President Ruto briefed his Cabinet on Kenya’s participation in the summit, where he delivered the country’s national statement reaffirming commitment to sustainable food systems.
He underscored Kenya’s resolve to build a climate-resilient agricultural sector and support global efforts to end hunger and boost food security.
The President also updated Cabinet members on the status of key infrastructure projects across the country.
According to a dispatch from State House, Ruto emphasized the importance of accelerating transformative development programmes aimed at strengthening Kenya’s economic foundation.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen were among senior officials present.
The summit in Ethiopia brought together world leaders, experts, and development partners to review progress on global food systems transformation since the inaugural UNFSS in 2021.
Kenya’s renewed commitment comes amid rising concerns over climate shocks and food insecurity affecting millions in the Horn of Africa region.
The Cabinet meeting also comes at a time the government is under pressure to fast-track flagship projects and economic reforms amid ongoing public discontent over the high cost of living.
