MOMBASA, Kenya – President William Ruto has urged Kenyans seeking employment abroad to rely on the National Employment Authority (NEA) website, saying it is the only government-verified platform listing genuine foreign job opportunities.
Speaking during the NYOTA Capital disbursement event in Mombasa County on Friday, February 6, 2026, the President warned job seekers against rogue recruiters and stressed that all legitimate overseas employers are listed on the NEA portal.
Ruto said the government-owned platform features vacancies from approved companies operating in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“The National Employment Authority website contains a list of job opportunities from verified companies across the world,” Ruto said. “When you log in, you will find jobs in the UK, Germany, France and the UAE. Register, fill in your details and follow the instructions provided.”
The President further announced that the government will assist successful applicants who are unable to raise airfare costs.
He said the State, through the Uwezo Fund, will initially pay for air tickets, which beneficiaries will refund after securing employment.
“Once you receive your employment letter and lack funds for airfare, the Government of Kenya will pay for your ticket,” Ruto said. “After you start working, you will refund the cost.”
Crackdown on Job Scams
Ruto’s remarks come amid growing concern over fraudulent overseas recruitment schemes targeting Kenyan youth.
A day earlier, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua cautioned job seekers against using visitor or tourist visas to look for work abroad, warning that many such offers are scams.
Speaking in Malindi, Kilifi County, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Mutua said some Kenyans had been deceived with fake job offers, with a number reportedly ending up in conflict zones linked to the Russia-Ukraine war.
“Some people are being taken abroad on visitor visas, while the government only facilitates employment visas,” Mutua said.
He urged Kenyans to seek official guidance before accepting any overseas job offer and shared a toll-free hotline for verification.
“Contact 0800 222 223 and speak to someone who can advise you accordingly,” he said.
Mutua reiterated that all legitimate foreign job opportunities approved by the government are listed on the NEA website, warning that any offer not appearing on the platform should be treated as fraudulent.
“If the job is not on the NEA website, know that you have been lied to,” he said.
