NAIVASHA, Kenya – A devastating road accident along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu highway on Sunday night claimed the lives of seven family members who were returning from a memorial service.
Police reports indicate that the family’s vehicle collided with a lorry under circumstances that are now under investigation.
Among the deceased were four children and three adults, leaving a deep sense of grief among relatives and the local community.
The bodies were transferred to the Naivasha mortuary as authorities sought to determine the cause of the crash.
Preliminary findings suggest that poor visibility and high speed may have been contributing factors, though official confirmation is still pending.
Meanwhile, a bizarre incident unfolded along the Kathiani-Machakos road when a swarm of bees disrupted rescue efforts at the scene of another accident.
The chaos erupted after a 14-seater matatu veered off the road at Kwa Kakonzi corner near Iveti Hills, crashing into a tree and overturning.
Good Samaritans who rushed to aid the victims were forced to retreat as the bees aggressively attacked anyone in the vicinity.
Firefighters from Machakos County were eventually called in and used hosepipe water to disperse the insects, allowing rescuers to access the wreckage.
Police confirmed that passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
