Shakira Wafula Resigns from Maraga Presidential Campaign

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Shakira Wafula has resigned from her role as Secretary of the Political Committee of the David Maraga Presidential Campaign, citing differences over key values, priorities, and decision-making within the campaign.

In a public statement released on November 17, 2025, Wafula expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve on the committee and for the insights gained into Kenya’s political processes.

She said her resignation is effective immediately.

While acknowledging the campaign’s slogan, “Reset, Restore, and Rebuild,” Wafula noted that achieving these ideals requires alignment on foundational values and ethical leadership.

“As our paths diverge on key values, priorities, and decisions within the campaign, I hope that my departure encourages thoughtful restructuring and strengthens the campaign’s commitment to good governance,” she said.

Wafula extended her best wishes to the remaining committee members, emphasizing her continued commitment to public service anchored in integrity, accountability, and the consistent practice of good governance for all citizens.

Her decision comes amid ongoing political activity surrounding the Maraga campaign, highlighting the internal challenges of aligning on strategy and ethical leadership within high-profile political movements.
