NYANDARUA — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have intensified investigations into the murder of 60-year-old Millicent Wahura Mwangi, who was killed on November 11, 2025, at Mwireri village in Olkalou, Nyandarua Central Sub-County.
The case initially started as a missing person report at Olkalou Police Station, but early findings suggested foul play, prompting deeper investigations.
On November 14, 2025, passers-by discovered a female torso stuffed in a sack along the Malewa–Kipipiri road near Rumathi village, around 37 kilometres from Olkalou.
The torso was taken to JM Kariuki Memorial Funeral Home for autopsy and identification, and the family later confirmed it belonged to Millicent Wahura Mwangi, confirming the case as murder.
DCI detectives, working alongside Nyandarua Central Sub-County police, launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of Benson Maina Mwangi, the deceased’s second-born son, on November 20, 2025, at his hideout in Kamulu.
“Investigations continue as detectives piece together the final moments of the deceased and build a watertight case to ensure justice is served,” DCI said in a statement.

He was arraigned in Olkalou’s SPM Court on November 24, 2025, where detectives secured a 21-day custody order. He remains in custody pending mention on January 19, 2026.
On December 23, 2025, homicide detectives and forensic experts conducted a scene re-enactment guided by the suspect at River Malewa.
Underwater searches at the site led to the recovery of critical evidence, including a machete believed to be the murder weapon, a bedsheet, and other items the suspect had disposed of after killing his mother.
Investigators are piecing together the final moments of the deceased as they build a watertight case to ensure justice is served.
The DCI confirmed that investigations are ongoing and emphasized that the recovered evidence will play a central role in the prosecution.
