WASHINGTON, DC – According to a report released on Tuesday by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to Congress, President-elect Donald Trump illegally interfered with the 2020 presidential elections and would have been convicted if he lost the 2024 election.
BBC News highlighted that the 137-page report was authored by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who led the investigations and has since resigned.
“The admissible evidence was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial,” the report states.
According to the report, Trump pressured officials to overturn the 2020 elections, sought to exploit the January 6 Capitol riot, and spread false claims of election fraud.
The second part of the report on allegations that Trump unlawfully retained classified documents at his Florida residence is pending further judicial review.

This part of the investigation also implicates two of Trump’s associates, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, who are accused of helping him to hide documents.
Last week, Judge Cannon temporarily stopped the release of the whole Smith report because of concerns that it could affect the cases of two Trump associates charged with him in the classified documents case.

During the campaigns, Trump promised to grant clemency to some of his supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, in a failed bid to block Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.
