PICTURES: Two Rivers Mall Lights Up Nairobi with Spectacular 28-Minute New Year Fireworks

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi turned the night sky into a canvas of colour and sound as it hosted a breathtaking 28-minute fireworks display to usher in the New Year, drawing thousands of revellers from Nairobi and neighbouring Kiambu County.

As the countdown reached zero, cheers erupted across the expansive mall grounds.

Families, couples, groups of friends and excited children raised their phones skyward, capturing the moment as fireworks exploded in dazzling patterns of gold, red, blue and silver.

The atmosphere was electric, a shared moment of joy that cut across age, background and neighbourhood.

What made the display even more magical was its scale.

Fireworks were launched from two separate points within the mall, creating a dramatic, immersive experience that lit up the skyline from multiple angles.

From wherever one stood, parking areas, open courtyards or nearby rooftops, the sky felt alive.

With each thunderous boom and sparkling cascade, the crowd responded with loud cheers, whistles and spontaneous screams of excitement.

“I have never seen anything like this in Nairobi,” said one excited attendee, holding his child on his shoulders. “It felt like the sky was celebrating with us.”

Another said, “Two Rivers Mall, already known as one of East Africa’s largest lifestyle malls, once again proved why it remains a favourite gathering spot during major celebrations.”

The well-coordinated show, clear viewing areas and festive energy turned the mall into the heartbeat of Nairobi’s New Year celebrations.

Beyond Two Rivers Mall, the New Year was welcomed with bursts of colour across several parts of Nairobi.

Fireworks lit up the skyline at KICC in the CBD, where crowds gathered to count down to midnight beneath the city’s most iconic tower.

In Westlands and Upper Hill, revellers watched from rooftops and open spaces as flashes of light rippled across the night sky.

Celebrations were also reported in Karen and along major entertainment hubs, turning Nairobi into a city of shared celebration, with fireworks visible from multiple neighbourhoods as 2026 dawned.
