UK Sanctions Two China-Based Tech Firms Over Global Cyberattacks

Date:

LONDON, UK — The UK government has imposed sanctions on two China-based technology companies accused of carrying out reckless and indiscriminate cyberattacks targeting the UK and its allies.

Sichuan Anxun Information Technology Co. Ltd, known as i-Soon, and Integrity Technology Group Incorporated, or Integrity Tech, were named Tuesday for their involvement in cyberattacks affecting more than 80 government and private-sector IT systems worldwide.

According to the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), i-Soon not only conducted its own attacks but also supported other entities planning malicious cyber activity.

Integrity Tech, meanwhile, is reported to have controlled a covert cyber network and provided technical assistance to others targeting UK public sector systems.

“These sanctions target companies that pose a serious threat to the UK’s national security and the stability of international cyberspace,” the FCDO said in a statement.

The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) assessed that these companies are part of a broader ecosystem of Chinese private sector actors—including information security firms, data brokers, and ‘hackers for hire’—which frequently support state-linked cyber operations.

The move follows the exposure in August 2025 of three other China-based companies involved in the cyber-espionage campaign dubbed SALT TYPHOON.

Collectively, these incidents highlight the scale of cyberattacks originating from China, affecting governments, military institutions, telecommunications firms, and public services worldwide.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized in a recent speech at the Guildhall that protecting the UK’s security remains the government’s “first duty,” adding that the UK will challenge threats while pursuing international cooperation where it serves national interests.

The UK continues to lead international initiatives such as the Pall Mall Process, which seeks to create a framework for responsible behaviour in commercial cyber operations, and promotes the UN normative framework for responsible state behaviour in cyberspace.

“These measures are designed to reduce the risk posed by unrestrained cyber actors and to uphold international stability,” the FCDO added.
