Absa Bank Kenya Appoints Anne Nyongesa as New Company Secretary

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Absa Bank Kenya has appointed Anne Nyongesa as its new Company Secretary, effective February 28, 2025.

Nyongesa takes over from Wilson Murage, who is leaving the lender to pursue other interests, the bank’s Board of Directors announced.

Board Chairman Charles Muchene welcomed Nyongesa to the role, expressing confidence in her expertise.

“We take this opportunity to welcome Ms. Nyongesa to this role and service to the Board,” he said in a statement.

With 17 years of post-admission experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Nyongesa brings extensive legal and governance expertise to Absa.

She is a Certified Public Secretary and a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).

Her academic background includes a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of South Africa and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi.

Before joining Absa, Nyongesa held several legal and company secretarial roles in the financial services sector.

Murage, who steps down after less than a year in the role, was initially appointed Interim Company Secretary in October 2023 before being confirmed in May 2024.

His tenure followed the resignation of his predecessor, who had served for four and a half years.
