NAIROBI, Kenya- In the latest political drama unfolding in Embu, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki took a firm stand against the recent heckling of leaders during former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s visit.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service in Kimumu, Mbeere North, Kindiki didn’t hold back in addressing the chaos and its alleged instigator.
Kindiki called out Gachagua for what he termed as divisive tactics, particularly referencing a burial ceremony where an increasingly discontented crowd refused to listen to President William Ruto’s speech.
The DP accused Gachagua of inciting unrest rather than working towards unity.
“If you have your own issues, don’t bring them here. I have given him all the respect, but he must also respect me,” Kindiki stated, his tone reflecting a growing rift within the leadership ranks.
He further criticized Gachagua’s approach to addressing public grievances. “You can’t be a leader who listens to people’s concerns, then cries and complains without offering solutions.
All you do is fuel anger and frustration,” he added, taking a swipe at what he described as empty rhetoric.
Kindiki also urged leaders to resist escalating political temperatures through personal attacks and smear campaigns, which he labeled as hallmarks of bad leadership.
His comments came amid rising tensions within the political landscape, with some factions questioning his relative silence on key issues.
Dismissing these concerns as distractions, Kindiki assured Kenyans that his focus remains on delivering solutions to pressing national challenges. “Watch this space. We know what Kenyans expect, and we’re focused on solving the real issues,” he declared.
