NAIROBI, Kenya – The Ministry of Education has released the 2025 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) results, paving the way for learners to view their performance and senior school placement details.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos announced the release on Thursday, saying candidates, parents, and schools can now access the results through an online portal or SMS.
To check results online, users should visit the Ministry’s selection portal selection.education.go.ke/my-selections and enter the learner’s assessment number.
Those without internet access can retrieve placement details by sending the assessment number to 22263 at a cost of Sh30 per SMS.
“Learners will be required to enter the assessment number and any one of their names as per their registration data for the 2025 KJSEA assessment. The results will be accessed immediately after this session. I hereby declare the 2025 KJSEA examinations officially released,” CS Migos said.
The CS reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), noting that the assessment marks another milestone in the country’s transition to competency-based learning.
Education Principal Secretary Prof. Ogamba highlighted that the CBC pathway — which includes two years in pre-primary, six years in primary, three years in junior school, and three in senior school — has been implemented progressively since its rollout.
He said the KJSEA serves three core purposes: evaluating learners’ competency levels at the junior school stage, providing feedback for placement into senior school pathways such as STEM, Arts, Sports Science and Social Sciences, and ensuring smooth learner progression based on individual strengths and interests.
“The KJSEA summative assessment comprises written examinations and dry projects. Most subjects feature a single written paper, while languages, Integrated Science and selected other subjects include two papers to accommodate composition, practical or project-based components,” Prof. Ogamba said.
He added that all candidates who registered for both the KJSEA and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) sat their exams successfully, despite weather-related disruptions in some regions.
The government commended field officers and school administrators for swiftly addressing emerging challenges during the exam period.
“I am happy to report that all learners who registered and presented themselves for the 2025 KJSEA and KILEA assessments successfully sat the assessments despite a few challenges that were appropriately addressed,” Ogamba said.
