List of President Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries Now Fired

NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto has announced the immediate dismissal of his entire Cabinet, sending home all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General.

The move, which spares only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, marks a significant shift in the Kenyan government’s leadership.

“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General of the Cabinet of Kenya, except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs,” President Ruto declared. “The office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way.”

President Ruto stated that Principal Secretaries will temporarily coordinate the affairs of the Ministries until a new definitive Cabinet is appointed.

He emphasized that the new Cabinet will be named after extensive consultations across all sectors to ensure a well-rounded and effective team.

Here is a list of dismissed cabinet secretaries:

  1. Rebecca Miano – Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry
    Formerly the Managing Director and CEO of KenGen Plc, Miano also served as the Director of Legal Affairs and Company Secretary at KenGen.
  2. Alice Wahome – Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Developments
    Wahome was previously a Member of Parliament for Kandara Constituency and served in the Attorney General’s chambers as a state counsel.
  3. Zacharia Njeru – Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation
    Njeru is a former sales administrator at DT Dobbie . He worked as an executive with Madison Insurance in Eldoret and was later appointed as the regional manager for the company’s Rift Valley region.
  4. Peninah Malonza – Ministry of East African Community, ASALs, and Regional Developments
    Malonza served as Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage and was the first Deputy Governor of Kitui County.
  5. Alfred Mutua – Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife
    Mutua is the first Governor of Machakos County and the founder of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
  6. Moses Kuria – Ministry of Public Service Performance, and Delivery Management
    Kuria was a Member of Parliament for Gatundu South and the founder of Chama Cha Kazi.
  7. Aisha Jumwa – Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage
    Jumwa served as the Woman Representative for Kilifi County, and a Member of Parliament for Malindi Constituency.
  8. Ezekiel Machogu – Education
    Machogu has a background in administration, serving as a District Officer, District Commissioner, and Senior Deputy Secretary in the Public Service Commission.
  9. Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u – National Treasury & Planning
    Ndung’u is a former Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.
  10. Florence Bore – Labour & Social Protection
    Bore is a former County Woman Representative for Kericho County.
  11. Susan Nakhumincha – Health
    Nakhumincha managed the supply chain for the Global Programme for Research and Training at UCSF before joining the cabinet.
  12. Kithure Kindiki – Interior and Coordination of National Government
    Kindiki is a former Senator for Tharaka-Nithi County and served as the Senate’s first majority leader and Deputy Speaker.
  13. Ababu Namwamba – Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts
    Namwamba is a former Member of Parliament for Budalang’i Constituency, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, and Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  14. Eliud Owalo – Information, Communication & Digital Economy
    Owalo was the campaign manager for Raila Odinga in the 2013 general election.
  15. Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen – Roads and Transport
    Murkomen is a former Senator for Elgeyo-Marakwet County and served as the Senate majority leader.
  16. Aden Duale – Defence
    Duale is a former Member of the National Assembly for Garissa Township Constituency and served as the Majority Leader in the National Assembly.
  17. Mithika Linturi – Agriculture & Livestock Development
    Linturi is a former Senator for Meru County and a Member of Parliament for Igembe South Constituency.
  18. Simon Chelugui – Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development
    Chelugui previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection and for Water, Sanitation & Irrigation.
  19. Roselinda Soipan Tuya – Environment and Forestry
    Tuya is the former women’s representative for Narok County.
  20. Salim Mvurya – Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs
    Mvurya was the first governor of Kwale County.
