NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto departed for Uganda on the morning of January 11 to participate in the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit focused on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
The one-day summit aims to eradicate hunger and poverty through agriculture-driven strategies.
In a statement, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed emphasized the summit’s objective of shaping policies that leverage agriculture as a tool for sustainable development.
“The summit will assess progress towards the targets set and seek to adopt the Kampala Declaration, outlining a shared vision for transforming agri-food systems from 2026 to 2035,” the statement noted.
President Ruto is expected to present Kenya’s initiatives in enhancing food security, creating employment, and promoting sustainable economic growth.
His agenda aligns with his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which is pivotal in achieving the nation’s prosperity through economic reforms.
