Sakaja Extends Land Rates Payment Deadline to April 2025 – Here’s How to Pay

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya- Good news for Nairobi property owners—you now have until April 15, 2025, to pay your land rates without penalties.

Governor Johnson Sakaja has extended the deadline, offering a much-needed relief to residents facing economic challenges.

“We understand the financial strain Nairobians are under, and we want to ensure fairness while encouraging compliance,” Sakaja stated after meeting revenue department officials.

The move is part of the county’s broader strategy to enhance revenue collection while preventing last-minute rushes that often lead to system congestion.

How to Pay & Avoid Last-Minute Hassles

If you’re a property owner in Nairobi, the county is urging you to take advantage of this extension before penalties kick in. Here’s how you can pay conveniently:

Mobile Payment: Use the official Nairobi Pay system to make transactions easily from your phone.
Service Centers: Visit designated Nairobi Pay service centers for in-person payments.

During this period, no penalties will be charged, so it’s a golden opportunity to clear your dues stress-free.

What Happens After the Deadline?

While the county is giving property owners an extended grace period, it’s also sending a clear message—failure to pay by April 15, 2025, will have consequences.

Governor Sakaja emphasized that defaulters will face county action, hinting at stricter enforcement measures once the deadline passes.
