PALM BEACH, Florida – US President Donald Trump has issued fresh warnings to Iran and Hamas, vowing decisive action if Tehran rebuilds its nuclear or missile programs and if Hamas fails to disarm in Gaza.
Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, Trump said the US and Israel would “eradicate” any attempt by Iran to restore its arsenal following joint strikes earlier this year. He also insisted Hamas must honor the ceasefire deal.
“If they don’t disarm as they agreed to do, then there will be hell to pay for them,” Trump declared.
Iran’s Response
Iran quickly pushed back. Ali Shamkhani, a top adviser to the supreme leader, warned on X that any aggression would face an “immediate harsh response beyond its planners’ imagination.”
Israeli officials have expressed concern that Tehran is rebuilding its ballistic missile capacity after the June war.
Gaza Ceasefire and US-Israel Unity
Trump downplayed reports of friction with Netanyahu over the fragile Gaza truce, saying Israel had “lived up” to its commitments and that the burden now lies with Hamas.
Netanyahu described the meeting as “very productive” and announced Israel would award Trump its highest civilian honor — the first time it has gone to a non-Israeli citizen.
Trump, who calls himself the “president of peace,” said he hopes to move to the next phase of the Gaza truce, including the installation of a Palestinian technocratic government and deployment of an international stabilization force.
Talks also touched on Syria and Hezbollah. Trump said he hoped Netanyahu could “get along” with Syria’s new president, who toppled Bashar al-Assad last year, despite ongoing border tensions.
The meeting capped a busy diplomatic weekend in Palm Beach, where Trump also hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for talks on ending Russia’s invasion.
Sticking Point: Hamas Disarmament
Despite Trump’s push, Hamas’s armed wing reiterated it would not surrender its weapons.
“Our people are defending themselves and will not give up their weapons as long as the occupation remains,” the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said in a video message.
Trump said reconstruction in Gaza could begin soon but stressed that disarmament remains the key obstacle to lasting peace.
