Police Investigate Deaths of Two Officers in Separate Incidents

Date:

EMBU, Kenya – Authorities are probing the mysterious deaths of two police officers in separate incidents reported over the weekend, leaving colleagues and communities seeking answers.

In Embu North, 35-year-old Collins Wafula, an officer stationed at the Deputy County Commissioner’s headquarters, was found dead on Saturday, December 28, under unclear circumstances.

His body was discovered along the Kavutiri area road by a passerby, who notified police.

Embu North police commander Benjamin Kiprono confirmed Wafula’s identity and said investigators are exploring whether his death was the result of a hit-and-run or if foul play was involved.

According to Kiprono, Wafula was last seen leaving an end-of-year party at the DCC offices before heading to Kianjokoma, where he joined friends at a bar. His movements afterward remain unclear until his body was found.

“It is not yet clear whether this was an accident or a case of murder,” Kiprono said, urging residents with any information to come forward.

The body has been moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.

In a separate incident in Mbita, Homa Bay County, another police officer collapsed and died in unexplained circumstances while on duty.

The constable, attached to Sena Police Station, was reportedly in good health before suddenly collapsing.

His body was also taken to a mortuary for an autopsy as authorities work to determine the cause of death.
