Shock in Kinangop as Missing 11-Year-Old Boy Found Murdered

Date:

KINANGOP, Kenya — Police in Nyandarua have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of an 11-year-old boy whose body was found beheaded in a maize farm in Soko Mpya, Kinangop.

The Grade Five pupil at St. Christopher Primary School was discovered early Thursday morning, his head severed and his belongings — including maize flour and clothes packed in a bag — found beside the body.

According to residents, the boy had spent Wednesday working on the farm with his mother but disappeared later that evening.

A frantic search by the family and villagers overnight yielded nothing until his body was found at dawn.

Shocked residents condemned the killing and called for swift action by security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This is beyond horrifying. We are living in fear and we want the police to get to the bottom of this,” said one resident.

Kinangop-based child rights officer Mary Muigai urged parents to remain vigilant over their children during the school holiday, warning that cases of child abuse and neglect tend to rise during such periods.

The boy’s body was taken to the Naivasha Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as detectives pursue leads into the murder.
