NAIROBI, Kenya – Renowned lawyer and political commentator Donald Kipkorir has dismissed persistent rumors of a fallout between Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto as “bar gossip.”
His remarks come amid speculation fueled by Kindiki’s conspicuous absence during a high-profile gathering hosted by the President.
Kithure did not attend the New Year-Eve dinner hosted by his boss at the Kisii State Lodge.
President Ruto recently entertained a distinguished group of political allies at his private farm in Narok, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Ghana’s President-elect, and several MPs.
The events at Kilgoris farm were seen as a significant show of political unity and influence for the President.
However, the absence of Kindiki, the President’s principal assistant, has sparked whispers of discord.
Kipkorir, a self-declared friend of both Ruto and Kindiki, took to social media to counter the claims, painting a vivid picture of their longstanding bond.
He lauded Kindiki as a man of quiet strength, who stood by Ruto during his darkest moments, particularly when the President faced charges at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
“I was at The Hague several times to cheer President Ruto and to offer quiet support to Kindiki. I know both men,” Kipkorir wrote.
“The persistent rumors of their fallout are bar gossip! Let the son of the pastor be!”
Kipkorir highlighted Kindiki’s intellectual prowess and humility, emphasizing that his absence from public appearances with the President is not indicative of discord but rather a sign of confidence and discipline.
“That he is not in every function the President is attending is self-evident of one not suffering from intellectual inadequacy or doubting his loyalty to the President,” he added.
Kindiki, a former Senate Majority Leader and Interior Cabinet Secretary, played a pivotal role in Ruto’s political ascent to presidency.
His legal expertise and loyalty were instrumental during Ruto’s battle at The Hague, a moment Kipkorir described as a critical test of friendship and allegiance.
In recent days, however, Kindiki’s subdued public presence has raised questions about his standing in Ruto’s inner circle.
Critics have suggested that his quiet demeanor and absence from high-profile events signal a rift.
