NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya has secured a coveted seat on the INTERPOL Africa Committee, cementing its position as a key player in continental and global policing.
The announcement was made during the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa, where Ibrahim Jillo, Director of the National Central Bureau (NCB)–Kenya, was elected to serve a four-year term.
Kenya’s Growing Influence
Jillo’s election places Kenya at the heart of regional security policy-making, giving the country a stronger voice in shaping strategies to combat transnational organised crime, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, and financial crimes.
Security experts view the development as both a diplomatic and policing milestone that underscores Kenya’s growing reputation as a hub for counterterrorism operations and cross-border intelligence sharing in Africa.

“This election reflects strong confidence in Kenya’s leadership and its unwavering commitment to enhancing regional and international cooperation in law enforcement,” the DCI said in a statement.
The agency added that the trust expressed by African nations was a recognition of Kenya’s credibility in steering complex multinational security initiatives.
