Kenyan Police on High Alert After US, UK Issue Terror Warnings

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS) has heightened security across the country following terror warnings from the US and UK.

In an official statement, NPS reassured Kenyans of their safety, emphasizing that officers are fully mobilized to counter any threats.

“The National Police Service would like to take this opportunity to reassure members of the public of their safety and security,” the NPS said in a message posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Our officers remain alert and vigilant to protect our country.”

This announcement came just hours after both the US Embassy in Nairobi and the UK issued warnings about potential terror attacks in Kenya.

The embassies advised their citizens to exercise heightened vigilance in public areas, especially those popular with tourists.

The US Embassy warned that terrorists may target locations frequently visited by US nationals and other foreigners, noting, “US citizens should exercise increased caution due to the risks of terrorism and kidnapping.”

These warnings cover Nairobi and other parts of the country that attract international visitors. Similar concerns were echoed by the UK in its advisory to British nationals.

These alerts come at a critical time, underscoring the importance of remaining vigilant as Kenya navigates an increasingly complex security landscape.

In response, the Kenyan Police emphasized their commitment to a coordinated, multi-agency security strategy. This approach involves working closely with local, regional, and international partners to ensure public safety.

The police urged Kenyans to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities.

“We call upon all members of the public to collaborate with police by reporting any suspicious activity or persons to the nearest police station or via our toll-free numbers: 112, 991, 999, or the FichuakwaDCI hotline 0800722203,” NPS appealed.

With security tightened nationwide, Kenyan authorities have made it clear that they are not taking any chances.

The multi-agency strategy aims to stay ahead of potential threats and ensure that citizens and visitors alike can go about their lives with confidence.

Working together with local communities, the Kenyan police are committed to ensuring that all necessary precautions are in place to counter any potential threats.

In the meantime, authorities encourage everyone to stay informed and report anything unusual. By being proactive, the police and public can work together to ensure Kenya remains a safe and secure destination for all.
