Martha Karua’s Party to Rebrand Ahead of 2027 Polls

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Narc Kenya is set to undergo a major transformation, rebranding itself as the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Inooro TV, Narc Kenya party leader, Martha Karua said that the party has initiated the legal process to change its name, symbol, colors, and slogan, signaling a strategic shift to appeal to Kenya’s youth.

This move marks an intensification in the competition for the Gen Z demographic, expected to dominate the voter base in 2027.

According to the Kenya National Council for Population and Development, the 2019 census revealed that 75.1% of Kenya’s population is under 35 years old, translating to 35.7 million people.

This youthful population is increasingly vocal about the need for political and economic change.

The rebranding is one of several changes the party is embracing to enhance its appeal.

These changes also represent a clear departure from Narc Kenya’s previous alignment with the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

In a legal notice from the Registrar of Political Parties, the proposed changes include the party’s symbol shifting from a red rose to a purple rose, and the colors transitioning from luminous red and white to lilac, white, and purple.

The slogan will also change to “Unite” and “Liberate,” moving away from “One Kenya, One Nation, One People.”

Karua had previously hinted at these changes, advocating for generational shifts in leadership and the introduction of term limits for the party’s top positions.
