Prominent Nairobi Businessman Francis Ng’ang’a Mundia Denies Alleged Theft of Luxurious Car

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a probe into a case of alleged fraud involving the sale of a high-end vehicle under false pretences.

The matter, reported at Kilimani Police Station under OB number [REDACTED], involves the sale of a Mercedes-Benz E350, registration KDS724T, valued at Sh4.1 million.

According to statements from Francis Ng’ang’a Mundia, the director of Valley Road Motors, the company was not involved in the transaction.

Y News has established that the vehicle was purchased by Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a, who reportedly paid the full amount to an agent identified as Robert Bundi Muga. Bundi is alleged to have been authorised by the registered owner of the vehicle to conduct the sale.

Ng’ang’a has confirmed that the logbook used in the transaction was provided by Bundi, allowing Brandon to verify the vehicle’s status.

“Before buying the car, my son, Brandon, requested a copy of the logbook, which was sent to him through Bundi. After assessing the car and giving it a clean bill of health, Brandon paid the full amount for the car through the bank and the rest through M-Pesa as agreed, and we have all the receipts with us,” Ng’ang’a told journalists at the car yard.

How claims over the alleged theft of the car emerged

However, discrepancies surrounding the authorisation and ownership transfer have since emerged.

“There are now claims all over social media that I, along with my son, stole this particular car in question, a move that is tarnishing the reputation of my company. There is no place where my company bought that car. Second, I am the director of Valley Road Motors, and again, there is no showing that I bought the car. The car was bought by my son, who settled the whole amount,” explained the furious Ng’ang’a during the media interview attended by Y News.

Ng’ang’a insisted that the claims that the car was stolen in Dandora are baseless.

“I do my business through trust and goodwill, but now these people are maligning our names,” Ng’ang’a added.

As the dispute unfolds, Brandon has returned the vehicle to its registered owner, Peter Munene Njoroge, while pursuing legal action to recover his funds.

Who is Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a suing for defamation

In addition to reclaiming his money, Y News understands that he is also taking steps to address reputational concerns, pursuing a defamation case against Bundi, Njoroge, and blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.

“I am appealing to the government to intervene in this matter so that we can be compensated for our money since we have returned the car to the owners. My son didn’t want to get involved in this. But now, we don’t have the car, and we also don’t have the money,” lamented Ng’ang’a.

The car was purchased on March 20, 2025, and Brandon saw the case through a blog post from Nyakundi. And what is emerging is that Brandon, the buyer of the car, had never been called by the owner of the car complaining of theft of his car until the time of the blog post.

“This clearly shows that the owner of the car and the lawyer are trying to con me because the car was bought in March this year, and it was only two weeks ago that they started claiming that their car had been stolen,” Ng’ang’a further said.

The case is expected to proceed through legal channels as authorities examine the validity of the transaction and its broader implications.
