In a statement, Daystar University also confirmed the death of Nguru without divulging much detail about the cause of her demise.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Prof. Faith Nguru, our beloved Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, Research, and Student Affairs. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” the statement shared on X reads.
Who is the late Professor Faith Nguru
Nguru is a professor of mass communications with research interests in Christian worldviews and education, which are related to her primary field of study.
Previously, she was a department chair, program director, and academic dean at Daystar University.
After five years as the deputy vice-chancellor of Riara University, she returned to Daystar University in 2018.
Her most recent publication is a co-authored chapter in Black/African Communication Theory published by Palgrave Macmillan (2018).
Nguru has also remained involved in directing a Christian elementary school and teacher training college.
Why Nguru hosted Dorcas Rigathi at Daystar University
In September 2023, Nguru hosted former second lady Dorcas Rigathi at Daystar University, where she joined university students for conversations about mental health through storytelling, dance, and artistic expression.
MyAfya Africa organised the event in collaboration with other partners.

During the event, Rigathi, a spouse to the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, observed that many parents have received caskets instead of their children upon completing their university education, and parents are afraid of losing their children due to suicide, depression, and other mental health issues.
“Therefore, mental health is an issue that we must discuss, a conversation that must be encouraged, and a narrative that must be carried everywhere in primary and secondary schools, TVETs, colleges and universities, and even the places of work. It is a demon ravaging every home,” Rigathi said.
