Tensions Erupt in Wajir as Missing MCA’s Mutilated Body is Found

Date:

WAJIR, Kenya – Tensions soared in Wajir County after the discovery of the mutilated body of Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Della Anole Ward, who had been missing for over a month.

Ahmed, whose disappearance on September 13 sparked concern, was found dead in the Lake Yahud area, his body showing signs of severe torture and brutal violence.

The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, leading to public outcry and protests. Family members and residents, overwhelmed with grief and anger, took to the streets after identifying Ahmed’s badly decomposed body at a local mortuary.

Videos circulating online show demonstrators expressing their sorrow and outrage, with some in tears as they shouted in disbelief.

Police were deployed to control the escalating situation, taking guard as protests intensified. Officers attempted to disperse the crowd as demonstrators demanded justice for the slain leader.

The local mortuary, where Ahmed’s body was identified, has become the focal point of the community’s mourning.

Sources indicate that Ahmed’s body was discovered with extensive burns, brutal beatings, and his eyes gouged out, a horrifying detail that has heightened tensions in the already distressed community.

The abduction, which remained a mystery for weeks, has left many in Wajir questioning the progress of investigations into his disappearance.

Ahmed’s death comes at a time when authorities had been under increasing pressure to make headway in the case.

The High Court had previously ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to safeguard key witnesses.

Justice Alexander Muteti had also directed that a progress report on the case be presented on October 7.

Despite these efforts, police investigations have so far yielded little concrete information.

Senior Superintendent of Police Justus Imaana revealed that they had obtained two CCTV footages but were still searching for more.

Additionally, a request for further assistance from the Internet Crime Complaint Centre (IC3) was denied, frustrating efforts to find leads.

With the investigation ongoing, the people of Wajir remain in mourning, demanding justice for the beloved MCA and answers about the circumstances surrounding his gruesome murder.

As the community awaits further developments, the tragedy has cast a somber mood over the county, leaving residents fearful and angry.
