Carol Sonnie Reveals How Therapy Helped Her Overcome Depression and Body Shaming

Content creator Carol Sonnie has opened up about one of the most difficult seasons of her life, reflecting on a period in 2022 when she battled extreme weight loss, online criticism and depression.

In an emotional post shared with her followers, Sonnie revisited photos from that time and revealed just how deeply she was struggling behind the scenes.

“This was me in 2022 and let me tell you Maina… some of you really insulted me for my weight. Others even told me I was sick,” she wrote.

According to the influencer, her physical transformation at the time sparked harsh comments online, with some followers speculating about her health. She disclosed that she had lost a significant amount of weight and was battling depression privately.

“Hapa nilikuwa nimekonda hadi ikabidi nimenyoa,” she added, explaining that she had become so thin that she decided to shave her hair. “Depression was my cup of tea every day,” she wrote candidly.

While some followers assumed she was ill, she now clarifies that she was navigating a mental health battle that affected multiple aspects of her life.

Despite the darkness of that season, Carol Sonnie says she found her way back through therapy, self-awareness and intentional healing.

“Thank God for therapy and self-love and self-awareness na peace of mind,” she shared.

“I am posting this to encourage someone out there. Everything is possible. Love yourself more and take care of yourself,” she wrote.

“The only person who will save you from your situation is you. Love you. Do you.”

While acknowledging the importance of therapy and support systems, she stressed the role of self-commitment in overcoming difficult seasons.
